Jeff and I just got back from a few days in Las Vegas. Jeff’s Pillar to Post annual convention was down there so I decided to bum along and enjoy some R & R. The weather wasn’t sitting by the pool warm, but it was about 40 degrees warmer than the frosty cold and foggy weather we are enjoying here in Spokane. It was delightful to sit outside and read a book for a while!
I enjoyed some down time with a spa day (sigh . . . heaven) and a fair amount of time reading. Of course, I also brought some work with me and felt quite productive when I was working. We also did some really fun stuff that I’ve not done before in Vegas. We saw David Copperfield live at the MGM Grand. He put on a great show! We also took a helicopter ride over the Hoover Dam, Lake Mead and the strip at twilight as all the lights were coming on – wow, amazing views! And something I’ve always wanted to do, enjoy a yummy dinner at Olives restaurant in the Bellagio and watch the Bellagio fountains dance! Everything we did created some wonderful memories. I am so glad I took advantage of the opportunity to join Jeff.
As always when I travel, I am glad to get home, see my kiddos and sleep in my own bed. Home sweet home!

This is going to be a great year! One of the best parts is that the kiddos are now skiing! I haven’t skied since before Emerson was born (and she is turning 11 in a couple of weeks, so you do the math – more than 11 years since I skied!). Anyway, we took the kiddos up to Sandpoint, Idaho this past weekend and rented a condo at Condo del Sol and spent a couple days on the mountain skiing at beautiful Schweitzer. We had one gorgeous sunny day and one that was not clear skies, but the clouds made for some gorgeous vistas especially at sunset!
Emerson and Cole both skied very well. Emerson in her usual reserved fashion was turning like a pro skiing slow and easy. Cole, my wild little man, was all about going as fast as he could and hitting all the jumps he could find. He spent a little more time in the snow than Emerson. At one point he had a total yard sale (lost both his skies) and stood up and yelled at the top of his lungs, “Thank You Jesus!” When questioned later why he said that, he said he was just so thankful to be skiing. Love, love, love it! And I am happy to report that even I did pretty well. It all came back and though I am more reserved now (no jumping for me), I was able to pick it back up . . . even skied a couple of black diamond runs!
We had a blast enjoying being outside in the fresh air. Schweitzer was celebrating their 50th anniversary so we got to enjoy a torchlight parade and fireworks display on top of the great skiing. I hadn’t been up there in a while and the village is really quite fun! We’ll be back!
Have a great week everyone!
