So, I am a working mom and I am hoping that my blog resonates with other women out there. I am a wife to a wonderful husband for almost 12 years. I am also a mom to two wonderful, busy children. And I am an entrepreneur – I own and operate my own real estate firm in Spokane, Washington. Most of the time, I spend my days running around crazy, busy. But typically, at the end of the day, I am thankful for the craziness of a full life!
My dear hubby has been out of town at a corporate convention this past few days so I have been a single mom. Let me start by saying I have the utmost respect for the single moms out there. My sister is a single mom and I have no idea how she does it. It is hard enough to raise kids with two of us parents, but the pressure of doing it on my own for just a few short days makes me all the more thankful for the presence of my husband.
As an aside, is it wrong to let the screens in the house (tv, computer, DS’s, even my own Ipad) be a nanny for my kiddos? It was a crazy weekend in real estate. I was working on five offers on three of my listings. I cannot remember a weekend that has been this busy since the peak of the market a few years ago. Not that I am complaining though as the work resulted in three signed around deals – yee haw! Anyway, back to my electronic nanny . . . is it wrong to use the screens as distractions for the kids? Am I the only mom out there that resorts to the electronic nanny? Most of the time, I try to spend quality time with the kids on the weekend. We did get some of that in, but it was not my most quality time weekend ever. Now, I am exhausted and wondering when I will get a weekend to recover from this weekend?! All-in-all though, a successful weekend: great business dealings, time spent in worship at church this morning, time spent with extended family at a bridal shower and brunch this morning and some time with the kiddos. I am so thankful for the blessings in my life!
Topics to come will include the wonder of in-laws, “What do you mean you don’t want dino nuggets again?” and “When is Mommy’s Turn to Cry?”
Have a great week everyone!
